Just say the name Quentin Blake and a smile is already playing around the corners of your mouth. His first drawings were published in Punch when he was 16. He has illustrated nearly 300 books with writers such as Russell Hoban, Joan Aiken, Michael Rosen, John Yeoman and, most famously of all, Roald Dahl. He has also illustrated classic books for adults, and created his own characters such as Mister Magnolia and Mrs Armitage. For many years he taught at the Royal College of Art , where he was head of the Illustration Department from 1978 to 1986. He has won many awards and prizes, and was made an OBE in 1988 and a CBE in 2005 for services to children's literature. According to The Guardian, he was 'already a national institution' when he was appointed the first Children's Laureate in 1999.

“I like the characters (I draw) and I feel close to all of them. I try to imagine how it would be to be like them as I draw.” Quentin Blake

Joanna Carey of The Guardian has described Quentin's London studio with wonderful accuracy:

'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' framed in one-inch square oak.

"The glow from the light box at which he works gives Blake... the air of a magician. On the desk beside him are his watercolours - moist, bite-sized chunks of colour, served up on little trays like rare exotic spices and meticulously labelled in the artist's inimitable handwriting. Alongside... brushes, pens, pencils and a whole armoury of nibs, are laid out with a precision that's quite at odds with the cheerful chaos you find in his drawings. But the rest of the room lives up to expectations - a huge table is covered by piles and piles of books, slithering heaps of parcels, packets and portfolios, while over by the wall the curved arm of a guillotine can be seen waving - or drowning - in a sea of drawing paper.”

“His style is so alive that you feel every line is electric.” Emma Chichester Clark

“There is no-one to touch him.” Roald Dahl.

The standard framing is double-mounted in a high-quality one-inch square plain oak, protected with clear wax. Shipping by courier of the framed prints to any UK address is only £5 for one or more items. Please note that due to shipping costs, framed prints are only available in the UK. The mounted / matted prints (unframed option) are available for worldwide orders.
